The Border Patrol is all set to get behind the impeachment of Domestic Security Minister Alejandro Mayorkas. The only concern they have is that getting rid of him also has to mean big changes after he’s gone.
Mayorkas not popular with Patrol
Fox News is reporting that a “top Border Patrol union official” informed them that agents could easily get behind “a potential impeachment” of Alejandro Mayorkas.
Especially “if it was accompanied by a change in the situation at the border.” According to National Border Patrol Council VP Jon Anfinsen, agents are “overwhelmed.”
Last year, congressional conservatives threatened to yank Mayorkas at the first opportunity and here it is. The ongoing “crisis” at the border resulted in 2.3 million foreign nationals processed and released into America.

That doesn’t account for the ones who didn’t check in on their way through. They’ve been herding more than 200,000 through the gates for each of the past consecutive nine months.
The only “crisis” the administration sees is with the backlog on getting migrants in. The last thing they want to do is send anyone away and they work to prevent that, even for those who really should be deported.
Meanwhile, we have an ally of ours fleeing the Taliban who showed up along our border and is being treated worse than most migrants who are confirmed criminals. If anyone deserves “asylum” it’s Abdul Wasi Safi. His lawyer is fighting hard but Mayorkas and the Pentagon continue to pretend he doesn’t exist.
Truly a disaster
Anfinsen points out that the situation in El Paso and elsewhere along the border “is truly a disaster down here and we need help.” He wants to know what it takes “to drive the message home to Mayorkas.” If it’s impeachment, then they’re all for it.
Newly appointed House Speaker Kevin McCarthy already suggested that the disgraced DHS chief resign and save the taxpayers some money. “He cannot and must not remain in that position.”
If Mayorkas doesn’t do the right thing and step down, congress “will investigate every order, every action and every failure.” Once they have enough evidence they’ll file impeachment paperwork. The Imperial Palace refuses to admit there’s any problem at all. They’re thrilled with DHS and the way it’s being run to “serve the American people.”

It’s being run to serve South American and Central American people, not U.S. citizens. Border Patrol has been reassigned as babysitters. “Agents can help with [processing]. But they need to also be out there to be able to deal with the patrolling the border piece of it, the part that’s in our job title, Border Patrol agent. We’re supposed to be out there patrolling the border.”
“The Department will continue our work to enforce our laws and secure our border, while building a safe, orderly, and humane immigration system.” They think the border is secure already, which is why Mayorkas has to go. Border Patrol is happy to hear the impeachment rumors swirling around.
“If at the very least it puts a bigger spotlight on what’s happening down here, hopefully get some of the resources and maybe gets Border Patrol agents out of the asylum business and putting us back in the field then we’re all for it.” They only have one question. “It’s just a matter of what is going to be the result of it in the end. That’s the question.” More of the same isn’t going to work.
