Despite it being nearly three years since the start of the pandemic in 2020, obviously it’s clear some Democrats still haven’t learned the lesson that their actions speak louder than words.
And that’s definitely the case for Wisconsin Senator Tammy Baldwin, who recently came under fire for her blatant hypocrisy during the pandemic era.
Republicans are calling out Baldwin for her misuse of taxpayer money and demanding she be held accountable for what she did.
At the beginning of 2020, many Democratic politicians were warning people not to travel or gather with family over Thanksgiving and Christmas in order to stop the pandemic spread.
However, while they were ordering constituents to stay home and celebrate without their loved ones, many leading Democrats like Gretchen Whitmer and Gavin Newsom went out and partied with their friends.
Now another prominent Democrat can be added to this list; Senator Tammy Baldwin from Wisconsin.
On the day before Thanksgiving 2020, Baldwin posted a video urging people not to host or go to gatherings with anyone outside their household unless absolutely necessary.
She also urged them to stay home if they could as the pandemic was “raging” and “getting worse” at that time.
Yet on the same day she posted this video, records show that she had used $630 of taxpayer money on a personal trip from Madison Wisconsin all the way down to New York City so that she could visit her partner Maria Brisbane for four days – something clearly against her own advice.
When questioned about it by The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, her office reimbursed the federal government for this trip but claimed that it had been an error in filing by one of her staffers.
This blatant hypocrisy has infuriated Republican officials who have come out calling it a clear misuse of funds which needs accountability immediately.
As spokesman Tate Mitchell puts it: “Tammy Baldwin should change her campaign slogan to ‘Do as I say, not as I do’.”
