Nineteen Republican lawmakers on the House Transportation Committee are wondering if the Biden regime plans using Amtrak to distribute the invasion of migrants. Title 42 is sinking into the sunset, so numbers which already break records are about to surge. We’re expecting around 18,000 per day, while supplies last.
Amtrak asked for details
Fox News is reporting on Thursday, August 18, that a group of conservative lawmakers are “eyeing a probe” into a scheme by Joe Biden’s handlers to “use Amtrak to transport illegal aliens from portions of the U.S.-Mexico border.”
It would be awfully convenient because the “publicly-owned passenger rail company” operates a route along the frontier that “stops directly at cities with immigration checkpoints, including Del Rio, Texas, and Yuma, Arizona.”
The oversight committee is concerned “about the impact that a significantly greater border surge could cause to your services,” they wrote in a letter to Amtrak administrators on Wednesday.
They’re also worried about the potential use of the publicly operated carrier “in the administration’s response to its self-created border crisis.” They heard rumors that Biden officials plan shuffling migrants from one section of the borderland to another for processing as the immigration checkpoints become flooded with invading illegals.
“Such a situation would cause disruptions for Amtrak customers as well as interrupt freight traffic that could further exacerbate the supply chain crisis,” they pointed out.
It “would also constitute an unconscionable use of significant amounts of taxpayer funds and resources to aid in the vast movement of illegal migrants into American communities.” A few bus loads of aliens trickling in to D.C. and New York City already have services overwhelmed and liberals in panic mode.
Requested a briefing
The transportation committee members are also asking Biden’s overseers to send around an official or two to fill them in on “any discussions that may have taken place” between Amtrak and the Biden regime. The news comes right alongside fresh numbers from Customs and Border Protection.
They revealed on Monday that “there were 199,976 migrant encounters in July, taking the total so far this fiscal year to 1.946 million encounters.” That can be rounded to an even 2 million for the year, so far. Each and every one of them attempted to “traverse the border illegally.”
Everyone knows that the legal challenges to ending Title 42 are only a stopgap measure and the vile provision implemented by Donald Trump will eventually go away. When it does, Homeland Security claims to have a plan. They just don’t want to share it with the public.
What Alejandro Mayorkas did say, along with declaring there is no evidence at all of a national security threat, is that when “the Title 42 public health order is lifted, we anticipate migration levels will increase.” That’s considered the understatement of the year. It’s pretty obvious that the feds are going to need to move people around like cattle. That calls for cattle-cars, and where Amtrak fits into the picture.
“GOP lawmakers are concerned that administration officials might also have their eyes on Amtrak to help transport illegal migrants.”
A spokesunit for the carrier noted “the rail service was reviewing the letter and would respond to the lawmakers.” Nobody at the Imperial Palace is returning phone calls.
