Texas just joined a list of states that is growing by the day.
Governor Abbott is banning TikTok from state-owned devices.
He is following the footsteps of Governor Sanders in Arkansas who made this one of her first pieces of business.

TikTok has direct ties to the Chinese government, which is a big problem for users.
While the owners of the company say they will not share data, the fact they are China-based makes that statement irrelevant.
If the Chinese government wants that data, it will just take it.
Abbott, in announcing the ban, stated, “The security risks associated with the use of TikTok on devices used to conduct the important business of our state must not be underestimated or ignored.
“Owned by a Chinese company that employs Chinese Communist Party members, TikTok harvests significant amounts of data from a user’s device, including details about a user’s internet activity.
“Other prohibited technologies listed in the statewide model plan also produce a similar threat to the security of Texans.”
Abbott joins Arkansas, Maryland, New Jersey, North Carolina, South Carolina, South Dakota, and Wisconsin as states that have banned its use.
