Lori Lightfoot’s administration is “negligent,” one former Chicago 911 dispatcher said shortly after he resigned. He quit because of “a lack of support for law enforcement” from the mayor and other city administrators. All they do is tell lies. What’s the point of arresting criminals when the prosecutors won’t press charges in court?
Chicago mayor on an ego trip
Don’t blame cops for the out-of-control crime rate in Chicago, Illinois, declares Keith Thornton Jr., until recently a police dispatcher. The Democrat run city has devolved into lawless anarchy, all because of liberal policies which protect the criminals.
There’s not a shred of transparency from city hall, he says, and “just a very negligent administration.” He couldn’t take another minute, thanks to the “revolving door” prosecution system.
He’s not alone. The president of the police union in Chicago says you can thank “the city’s school system and Mayor Lori Lightfoot” for the “staggering homicide rate.” Arrests are way down while crime is way up. They only arrested 12% of the criminals in 2020, “the lowest rate since 2001.” There is a reason for that.
Sweeping changes were “made in recent years as to how the department patrols the streets, including restricting their vehicle pursuit policy and ending foot pursuits if a suspect runs from an officer or if someone commits a minor offense.”
For all practical purposes, Chicago simply decriminalized crime.
There was only so much abuse he could take so he “resigned to be a better ‘advocate and get my voice out there‘ on the crime crisis facing the city.” The only thing bigger than the city’s crime problem, he insists, is “Mayor Lightfoot’s ego.”
Misdirection by the numbers
The thing which pushed Thornton over the edge were the lies he heard on TV. “Constantly every week, every other day, they’re saying that the stats are down with violent crime and people shot and homicides. Listen, being on the other side of the radio as a dispatcher in Chicago, I’m like, this is nonsense.”
It’s just plain wrong. All the lies are coming from Lori Lightfoot.
“We’re supposed to tell these citizens a bunch of fluff that we have resources and police coming and there’s hours and hours before we can get an officer to many of the scenes throughout the city,”
He can’t lie to people bleeding on the other end of the phone any more. All the other officers on Chicago PD are just as demoralized. They’re quitting as fast as they can break out the door. New recruits don’t seem to be lining up either because police work has been demonized by the liberal masses.
Police officers don’t sign up for the job just to eat donuts. “We love what we do. We love serving and protecting, and we’re leaving to go somewhere else and just pray for our city.” Some jurisdiction that appreciates law and order instead of anarchy.
The situation on the streets of Chicago is so bad that gun battles break out routinely over every simple dispute. Get a medium fries instead of a large order, just cap the cashier for it.
