James Comer, conservative chair of the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability, is playing hardball with Biden family lawyers. He requests, they deny. The ball’s back around in his face and he’s ready to light it on fire, slamming it back with Contempt of Congress charges.
Comer wants the goods
Now that conservative Republicans secured key appointments on a whole slew of “watchdog” oversight committees, James Comer is on the offensive. He wants the prime suspects of Biden family corruption to willingly hand over their own incriminating evidence.
It would go a whole lot easier on Hunter Biden, James Biden, and Eric Schwerin to “provide documents, communications, and records” now, with congress asking nicely. Of course, that’s never going to happen. Biden fixer Abbe Lowell turned right around and diplomatically told Congress to “go fly a kite.”
The battle began Wednesday, February 8, when Comer fired off letters to Lowell’s clients and Schwerin, naming them as “key witnesses in our investigation of Joe Biden’s involvement in his family’s international and domestic business schemes.”

They already have evidence which “reveals the Biden family business model is built on Joe Biden’s political career and connections.” It’s clear to him and the conservative half of America that “Biden family members attempted to sell access around the world, including individuals who were connected to the Chinese Communist Party, to enrich themselves to the detriment of American interests.”
The whole crux of the congressional investigations revolves around one crucial phrase. You’re sure to be hearing it a lot in coming weeks and months. “If President Biden is compromised by deals with foreign adversaries and they are impacting his decision making, this is a threat to national security.” That gives Biden lawyers an escape route.
Joe Biden may have wheeled and dealed his way to wealth with Chinese, Ukrainians and Russians but it’s no big deal because he never let it “impact his decision making.” Watch for hard evidence that “yes he did” to pop up soon. Comer knows which way the rats will run. Hunter Biden and his nefarious laptop aren’t their only source of evidence. Joe Biden and his lawyers have been given the shovel ready job of digging their own political graves.
We The People Deserve it
The American people, Comer declares, “deserve transparency and accountability about the Biden family’s influence peddling.” He’s not taking no for an answer, even though he expects that coming next. “The Oversight Committee is committed to exposing the waste, fraud, and abuse that has taken place at the highest levels of our government.”
That means “Hunter Biden, James Biden, and Eric Schwerin’s documents, records, and communications are critical to this investigation.” He’s going to get them if it means Contempt of Congress charges. Those come next, now that Lowell thumbed his nose and said, bring it on.
Abbe Lowell didn’t waste any time getting back to Comer and his watchdogs, reminding them that they’re still on a leash and Merrick Garland holds the other end in his hand. By Thursday, Lowell sent back his answer. The lawyers are high paid enough that Joe allegedly had to hock his beach house to pay them.

Hunter Biden, Lowell calmly replies, “is a private citizen and Congress has no business investigating him.” He went on to note, “I write to explain that the Committee on Oversight and Accountability lacks a legitimate legislative purpose and oversight basis for requesting such records from Mr. Biden, who is a private citizen.”
Comer expected that and threw in a line about how Hunter can be used as a basis of future ethics laws to prevent his shenanigans in the future. Lowell doesn’t care. “Joe Biden has long denied any role in the business deals that were pursued by his son or his brother, and neither has any role in his administration.”
James Biden and Eric Schwerin haven’t responded for comment. Contempt of Congress charges are stiff and usually bring jail time. These, however are “unusual” times. That means watch closely to see how it plays out in real life. If Congress can’t get the job done on something this important, there are likely to be riots in the street.
