On Saturday, November 11, President Joe Biden’s home in Wilmington, Delaware was swarmed by hundreds of pro-Palestinian protesters who were rejecting his support for Israel and refusal to call for a ceasefire. The massive protest was headlined by prominent left-wing activists and featured chants calling for the complete eradication of Israel.
It is yet another example of the growing tension between President Biden and elements of the Democratic Party.
The demonstration near President Biden’s family estate in Wilmington was attended by hundreds of people waving Palestinian flags. The protesters chanted “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free”, as well as “shut it down” and “Biden, Biden, you can’t hide! We charge you with genocide!”
Linda Sarsour, an organizer from 2017 Women’s March with ties to radical Islamist groups, led this rally.
A week before the demonstration at Wilmington, dozens of pro-Palestine protestors attempted to breach the White House gates which were vandalized as a result. US Rep Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) — who was recently censured by the House due to her defense of that slogan — has threatened that she will withhold her support from Mr Biden in 2024 if he does not call for a ceasefire.
In light of this incident she said “Mr. President, the American people are not with you on this one,” adding that they would remember it during 2024 elections.
President Joe Biden has found himself at odds with significant elements of his 2020 coalition due to his support for Israeli government and refusal to give into ceasefire demands made by Palestinians living in Gaza Strip whom he accuses of carrying out terrorist attacks on October 7th.
This current situation puts President Joe Biden in direct confrontation with certain sections within his own party which have accused him supporting genocide against Palestinians living in Gaza Strip through his actions.
