In a letter addressed by Congressman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) to the FBI Director, Christopher Wray, Jordan confirms a shocking detail regarding the potentially suspicious activity occurring on January 6th 2021 in the U.S Capitol Building during the riot. According to Jordan, there are reports that confidential human sources (CHSs) may have been used by the bureau in order to infiltrate the crowds prior to the event.
According to former FBI official Steven D’Antuono, the Washington Field Office (WFO) learned after January 6th that there had been confidential sources from other field offices present at the event.
It appears that some of these CHSs were acting on their own accord and without being tracked or monitored by the bureau.
Moreover, further information revealed itself when WFO asked headquarters for help in figuring out how many CHSs had been present at the Capitol building on January 6th.
An example was given that a source from Kansas City had contacted his handler while inside the crowd stating he was trying “to stop some of the action happening” before leaving again shortly after.
This new evidence suggests that not only did certain entities employ unmonitored agents but also implies that even though HQ attempted to investigate what happened specific field offices could not keep track of their informants activities or whereabouts during this incident due to their sheer numbers.
Republicans such as President Donald Trump have questioned why House Speaker Nancy Pelosi failed to act upon requests made by Capitol Police officers requesting for enhanced security including National Guard troops prior to this day’s events occurring.
This decision could be seen as negligence now more than ever due to this new evidence coming forth about potential infiltration attempts occurring before and during said riot.
On top of all this information coming into light it is also worth noting that news outlet The Federalist was one of few organizations who reported suspicions regarding “infiltrators” in crowds attending then-President Donald Trump’s “Stop The Steal” speech near Capitol Hill days prior to January 6th’s deadly events.
