La Raza is furious with Jill Biden after she made a totally thoughtless and racist remark. It has been a really rough week at the Imperial Palace. Joe’s been taking all the heat, and melted down totally at the James Webb unveiling party. Now Jill is the one in the center of swirling controversy.
La Raza ready to revolt
The organization formerly known as the National Council of La Raza, until that name fell out of favor when associated with a movement to liberate 1/4 of America for the Latinos, is really upset with Jill Biden.
They rebranded themselves as UnidosUS and they’re still the “nation’s largest Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization.” Large enough to get an apology when they demand one, and they demanded one this time.
“The first lady apologizes that her words conveyed anything but pure admiration and love for the Latino community,” a palace propaganda staffer tweeted out on behalf of Jill.
La Raza accepted it at face value but Latinos aren’t all guaranteed to vote Democrat these days. That couldn’t come at a worse time for the alleged administration.
Democrats are trying to consolidate all the power blocs they can scrounge together before the mid-terms it could make the difference between a slight power shift and a bloodbath.
In November they are going to need every vote they can get. La Raza used to be dependable support by the busload, guaranteed to vote at least three or four times in each election. Now, they’re jumping ship. Some have even been spotted wearing deplorable MAGA gear.
A revolt in San Antonio
When Jill Biden arrived Monday, July 11, in San Antonio, Texas, she had no idea that her hastily prepared remarks were about to cheese off the entire La Raza nation at the annual civil rights conference.
While she was there, Jill popped in for a little elbow rubbing with local Democrats at a private home to raise some cash for the cause. All went well until she returned to Washington and found out the spam hit the fan.
Latino’s, La Raza testily reminded Jill Biden and/or her speech writers, are NOT “tacos.” Not only that, if you’re going to babble about bodega’s, at least learn how to say the word.
Her entire speech was offensively racist and they demanded an immediate apology. They got one. Even the staffers were quick to admit that Jill badly mispronounced “bodegas,” which are, CNN points out, “small stores in urban areas typically specializing in Hispanic groceries.”
Biden’s “attempt at a compliment floundered” when she described Latino diversity “as distinct as the bodegas of the Bronx, as beautiful as the blossoms of Miami and as unique as the breakfast tacos here in San Antonio.” That was the big racist remark.
The National Association of Hispanic Journalists and others registered their offense on social media, with the journalists’ organization tweeting that, “We are not tacos. Using breakfast tacos to try to demonstrate the uniqueness of Latinos in San Antonio demonstrates a lack of cultural knowledge and sensitivity to the diversity of Latinos in the region.” Get a clue, La Raza insists. Jill and her speechwriters should “take the time in the future to better understand the complexities of our people and communities.“
