Newsom Calls In National Guard For Massive Rescue

California Governor Gavin Newsom is calling in the National Guard to help him with his fentanyl problem. That’s the only idea he can come up with, because the police are far outnumbered by the drug dealers. It’s clear that Democrats running his state are much more interested in creating conditions which fuel the problem, rather than finding a workable solution.

Newsom calls in National Guard

As one business after another is pulling out of the greater San Francisco area, including major retailers, Governor Gavin Newsom has been taking heavy political fire to do something.

Faced with out of control shoplifting, rampant open drug use and homeless encampments along city sidewalks, there’s nothing he can do about any of those things. Not without angering his rabidly liberal constituents. He did manage to find one band-aid solution. Make it someone else’s problem. He called in the National Guard.

As New York Post reports, Newsom “directed the National Guard and California Highway Patrol to help combat San Francisco’s fentanyl trafficking crisis.” He ordered both of the agencies to “assist local authorities to address the rise in fentanyl use.” By “assist” he means “do the job for them.

They’re working San Francisco because they have a little problem in Los Angeles, right now. All of LA’s undercover police officers just had their photos revealed to the public, along with their home addresses.

If command is really serious about the mission, the Guard will come choppering in to the Tenderloin district with rifles loaded and ready. Well prepared for fierce urban warfare against heavily armed local drug gangs. That’s not likely to happen.

According to Newsom, the focus will be on “dismantling fentanyl trafficking and disrupting the supply of the deadly drug in the city.” The way he plans to do that is by “holding the operators of large-scale drug trafficking operations accountable.

Both at the same time

Newsom thinks he can have his cake and eat it too. Nobody is sure what the heck he meant but it sounded good on the news. “Two truths can co-exist at the same time: San Francisco’s violent crime rate is below comparably sized cities like Jacksonville [Florida] and Fort Worth [Texas] — and there is also more we must do to address public safety concerns, especially the fentanyl crisis.

Those two sets of facts don’t have any overlap so could never conflict in the first place. He’s trying to say they may have a city full of drugged out zombies who use the sidewalk for a bathroom but at least they aren’t armed.

The state Highway Patrol will back up the San Francisco PD “by assigning personnel and training.” They’ll also do some “drug trafficking enforcement within certain areas of the city, specifically the Tenderloin area.

The National Guard, Newsom explains, “has been directed to identify personnel and resources that will help dismantle fentanyl trafficking rings.” That doesn’t mean a whole lot. Some solid plan needs to materialize soon because the “city’s Tenderloin neighborhood has been called the epicenter of the region’s homelessness and drug crisis.

For years, San Francisco has been leading the nation in overdose death statistics, mostly from fentanyl. The city just keeps buying more Narcan. In 2021, the mayor “issued a state of emergency” for the Tenderloin neighborhood. They have seen a “40% jump in overdose deaths from January through March” this year.

Despite the ongoing crisis, authorities would rather enable the users. That, in turn is chasing out local business. As the shops close, the workers relocate. San Francisco is rapidly being overtaken by drugged out zombies. Newsom seems to prefer it that way because they reliably vote Democrat. Often, several times in the same election.
