The big Supreme Court decision that everyone was watching this week was over access to the abortion pill, and the ruling stunned a lot of people.
Most expected the conservative court to allow the lower court ruling to stand.
Instead, a stay was issued to allow access to the pill nationwide while this plays out in the courts.
What caught my attention was a statement made by Justice Alito.
What Is He Saying
Have we gotten to the point that the Supreme Court is now issuing rulings based on whether or not it thinks this administration and the DOJ will enforce the ruling?
In his statement about the ruling, Alito stated, “Here, the Government has not dispelled legitimate doubts that it would even obey an unfavorable order in these cases, much less that it would choose to take enforcement actions to which it has strong objections.”
Have you ever heard a justice speak that way?
Even liberal justices did not make such a statement when Trump was in office.
I would also note that whether Trump supported the ruling or not, he abided by it.
To me, that statement by Alito is more upsetting than the verdict.
