Mehmet Oz is making some big moves to make up ground against John Fetterman.
Oz is trailing by 13 points in some of the latest polling, so now he is working to expose the biggest lies that John Fetterman has been telling.
In the process, his campaign just exposed that Fetterman has two brothers working for him that were convicted of murder.
Dark Times
Dennis and Lee Horton were convicted of murder in 1994.
They claim they are innocent, but there is zero proof of that.
When they were arrested, they claimed that their friend had committed a robbery and murder that they had nothing to do with.
They have maintained that after their conviction and every day they were serving their sentence.
John Fetterman took them at their word, even though they had their day in court and lost.
Fetterman led the effort to get them pardoned, eventually getting a pardon on the desk of Governor Tom Wolf.
When the pardon was issued, he hired them, paying them about $50,000 from campaign cash since their release.
Oz’s campaign stated, “John Fetterman’s even trying to hide his record from voters by running TV ads saying he’s tough on crime. His positions – including releasing one-third of inmates onto our streets – says otherwise as does the fact that he hired two convicted murderers on his campaign.
“If John Fetterman cared about Pennsylvania’s crime problem, he’d prove it by firing the convicted murderers he employs on his campaign.”
Fetterman says he is playing dirty, responding, “This smear is a sad and desperate attack from Dr. Oz’s shambolic campaign. Going after two campaign staffers is a new low for Dr. Oz. Dennis and Lee, who were wrongfully convicted, are two of the kindest, hardest working people I know – fighting for their release was one of the proudest moments of my career and I’m honored to have them on this team.
“Does Dr. Oz believe that the wrongfully convicted should die in prison? Does this man have any compassion? He’s making a predictable and fear mongering attack against two men who spent 27 years in prison for a crime they didn’t commit.”
Again, there was no evidence to overturn this conviction, just their word.
NRSC spokeswoman Lizzie Litzow added, “John Fetterman has a long record of being soft on crime, which he constantly tries to hide from voters and the press.
“He wants to release one-third of inmates onto Pennsylvania’s streets and now has two convicted murderers working on his campaign.
“He needs to start putting Pennsylvania communities ahead of murderers and other criminals and can start by firing the two convicted murderers he’s employed.”
Fetterman loves criminals, and wants to open the doors of prisons and put as many as he can back on the street.
He must be defeated.
