It’s not surprising that Harvard would be the first of the woke Ivy League institutions to set aside a big pile of cash to assuage their White guilt. They set up a special endowment fund for “reparations,” designed, they claim, “to close the educational, social and economic gaps that are legacies of slavery and racism.”
Woke notion sent by email
When Harvard university students, faculty and staff checked their email inboxes on Tuesday, April 26, they learned the woke administration decided to listen to the experts.
The message from the desktop of Lawrence Bacow “included a link to a 100-page report by his university’s 14-member Committee on Harvard and the Legacy of Slavery.” The report is ghastly.
The gruesome details in the report were worth a cool million a page in reparations, they woke up and realized. Bacow had the school treasurer transfer $100 million to the endowment, and washed his hands.
That will put an end to the university’s legacy of working people under harsh conditions for little or no pay.
The panel who wrote the nasty report was chaired by Tomiko Brown-Nagin. His biography calls him “a legal historian and constitutional law expert who is dean of Harvard’s interdisciplinary Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study.”
That says WOKE in capital letters. Somehow, Reuters got their hands on both the email and the report.
A wider discussion
As the border is about to be erased on schedule, May 23, allowing an invasion from the south, Harvard’s woke move comes “amid a wider conversation about redressing the impacts of centuries of slavery, discrimination and racism.”
All those poor and helpless asylees are about to be exploited by liberals to work under harsh conditions for little or no pay. Harvard wants to get one batch of guilt off their conscience before they start a fresh batch.
Besides, they’re hoping it will distract everyone’s attention from their connections to Jeffrey Epstein and a whole colony of Chinese moles tunneled into their sensitive research projects. Woke organizations can get away with anything.
People have been whining about money for reparations and a hundred million smackeroos isn’t all that much. Not in the cosmic Harvard scheme of things.
As spelled out in the disgusting report on how Harvard behaved back in the day, they had slave labor “toiling on the campus of the university.” The big problem is they kept doing it “after slavery was outlawed in Massachusetts in 1783.” Since Harvard was 147 years old at the time, it means they had been doing it for a long, long time. Considering that they had to feed, clothe, and house their slave labor, the workers did get something of value. Today’s Guatemalans will get a paycheck. That makes it alright and not slave labor, even though it’s only barely enough to feed, clothe, and house the refugees.
Add to that the fact Joe Biden will dip his hand in their pocket for his cut of taxes, they’re even worse than any slave doing the same job in 1783. At least the woke university will have a clear conscience over the whole thing, without having to pay for it as reparations later, thanks to the miracles of modern payroll systems.
