Former attorney general William Barr has recently attacked former president Donald Trump in an interview with CBS News. On the Sunday show, “Face The Nation”, Barr spoke of Trump’s federal indictment as well as two other criminal matters.
This came a week after Trump heavily criticized Barr for his opinion on the legal position of the former president.
Trump called out Barr publicly by referring to him as “a slob,” “a stupid person,” “a coward,” “a low life,” and a “gutless pig.” He also said that he had been unfairly targeted in witch hunts in the past.
However, this did nothing to stop Barr from making his statement and condemning Trump’s actions.
Barr believes that there is strong evidence to support claims against Trump for criminal obstruction charges since there is proof coming from his own lawyers.
He also strongly argued against any Presidential Records Act shielding the former president from consequences since this was put into place after Watergate precisely to stop presidents from taking documents out of the White House while in office.
When asked about a possible sentence if convicted, he commented that he doesn’t like the idea of a former President serving prison time but also added that it is clear Trump puts his own interests ahead of everything else including those of the country – making it difficult to deny these allegations against him.
He then went onto say that although he doubts certain aspects of evidence presented against him, charges will still be brought up due to Georgia’s ongoing criminal probe into rigging elections though this could be difficult due to First Amendment protections given by law.
It is safe to say that William Barr was not afraid to express how he felt about Donald Trumps conduct and unethical behavior during his presidency through this broadcasted interview with CBS News despite backlash from the President himself just weeks before.
His opinion remains even stronger now that more facts have come forward supporting accusations made against him which could potentially lead down a dangerous path if found guilty – something we hope does not happen considering all implications associated with such an outcome.
