There appears to be a bit of a shakeup in the Republican House contingent.
Firebrand Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has reportedly been ousted from the Freedom Caucus.
This is a huge development in the party and could show a significant slide in the power structure of the party.
She’s Gone
Greene has been on thin ice with the caucus since buddying up to Speaker McCarthy (R-CA).
She has also made some other moves that were against the narrative the Freedom Caucus was spinning, but to remove her… I surely did not see that coming.
Rep. Andy Harris (R-MD) broke the news, stating, “A vote was taken to remove Marjorie Taylor Greene from the House Freedom Caucus for some of the things she’s done.”
When Harris was asked specifically if she was gone, he responded, “As far as I know, that is the way it is.”
Harris was further asked if it was that open support for McCarthy that hurt her, to which he responded, “I think all of that mattered.”
To make this more interesting, when Greene was asked if she had been removed, she refused to answer the question directly.
Instead, she went full politician, stating, “In Congress, I serve Northwest Georgia first, and serve no group in Washington.
“My America First credentials, guided by my Christian faith, are forged in steel, seared into my character, and will never change.
“I fight every single day in the halls of Congress against the hate-America Democrats, who are trying to destroy this country.
“I will work with anyone who wants to secure our border, protect our children inside the womb and after they are born, end the forever foreign wars, and do the work to save this country.
“The GOP has less than two years to show America what a strong, unified Republican-led Congress will do when President [Donald] Trump wins the White House in 2024.
“This is my focus, nothing else.”
I she had not been removed, I think we all know she would have been slamming the “fake news” for putting out such a story.
Without that caucus, Greene is more or less someone without a country, so to speak.
This will surely make her re-election effort in 2024 a very interesting race.
