Donald Trump has started to name his cabinet members as well as some of his other key posts.

Quite a few people thought Trump would bring former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo back and possibly offer Nikki Haley an olive branch.

That, however, is not happening.

Not This Time

I think we could easily argue that Nikki Haley and Mike Pompeo were two of the first administration’s more successful appointments.

Haley did an exceptional job as Ambassador to the United Nations.

She and Trump did not always see eye to eye, but Haley was fierce as an Ambassador protecting the United States and its interests.

Mike Pompeo was also successful as both the Director of the CIA and Secretary of State.

Honestly, I would have loved to have seen Trump bring him back to clean up the FBI, but I think a post on X after the 2022 election sealed his fate on that front.

After numerous key Trump endorsements failed to win Senate battleground seats, Pompeo posted, “We were told we’d get tired of winning. But I’m tired of losing. And so are most Republicans.”

That was all it took for MAGA to turn against Pompeo, as Trump supporters have been very vocal that they did not want to see him or Haley in the administration.

Trump seemed to hear those complaints, explaining, “I will not be inviting former Ambassador Nikki Haley, or former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, to join the Trump Administration, which is currently in formation.

“I very much enjoyed and appreciated working with them previously, and would like to thank them for their service to our Country.”

So far, Trump has put nothing but true loyalists in posts, and I would expect that to continue.

I am sure that Trump’s new Chief of Staff, Susie Wiles, will have her hands all over these appointments, fully vetting everyone to ensure that Trump does not have the same problems he had in the early goings of his first presidency.
