An alert homeowner in Connecticut battled off three would-be car thieves. One of them even beat him with their shoe. His doorbell camera caught the entire skirmish on video.

Thieves weren’t expecting him

When three young thieves thought they could brazenly boost an Infiniti from a Connecticut driveway in broad daylight, they weren’t expecting resistance. The owner saw a lone carjacker sneaking into his vehicle and came out running, he was unarmed and also unshod.

He didn’t stop to put his shoes on. He almost ended up with ones an attacker was wearing. When it came off in the scuffle the hoodlum quickly recovered it and proceeded to beat the car owner with it.

The incident happened April 10 and police are still looking for the “four suspects captured on camera attempting to steal a car parked in a residential driveway in Rocky Hill, Connecticut.

If you know them, you can turn them in to police for reward money. All police have to go on is the video, so they’re making it go viral. They’re hoping someone will do their job and identify the thieves for them.

The footage clearly shows one carjacker, in communication with the others on a phone, “approach and enter a red Infiniti parked on Valley View Drive.

He came flying out of the house, “confronts the suspect and pulls him out of the car by force.” That’s when his buddies showed up. The thieves thought they had him outnumbered but the victim had backup, too.

One just watched

The video shows the man struggling with the first black-clad carjacker for a while. They struggle, break apart, then instead of running away, the felon rushes back to fight the owner some more before three more thieves join the fight.

The suspect was eventually joined by three other suspects, two of which tried to strike the victim’s face while he was restrained. The fourth suspect stood by and watched the incident unfold.

All it took to break up the fight was for another individual inside the house to yell out “they are calling the police.” That was the magic words.

The thieves were in their black Mercedes long before Five-Oh arrived. One of the neighbors was astounded. “It’s so close to home. It’s really frustrating,” they relate.

Rocky Hill Police Department is looking for the thieves but they really don’t have a clue where to start. “This incident is still being investigated by the Rocky Hill Police Department Detective Division. If anyone has any information regarding this incident is asked to contact Detective Matthew Seguin at 860-258-2047.” They aren’t happy the owner prevented the carjacking.

It “could have gone terribly wrong.” Better just to let thieves have anything they want. “We’re seeing a lot of these incidents throughout the state and the country that people are intervening, and the suspect may have a weapon.” Like a shoe or an unregistered assault hammer. The homeowner might have a weapon too, even in liberal Connecticut.
