As you know, Donald Trump now has four major indictments that he is awaiting trial for.
He also had two additional cases now on the docket that could cost him considerably in terms of his finances.
A former Asst. U.S. Attorney believes that with Trump’s legal problems, he is destined for jail.
If He’s Guilty
Not trying to be a Debbie Downer here, but the likelihood of Trump beating all four cases is not good.
I say this more due to the judges and jury pools than anything else.
Considering the sentences we are seeing handed down to the January 6 defendants, Trump would end up dying in prison if he loses that case.
With the sheer number of charges against Trump, just about any case would put him behind bars for the rest of his life.
Former Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew Weissmann stated, “This is not a good thing for Donald Trump. I have said this repeatedly. It’s obviously just a prediction, but for the judges in D.C. like Judge Chutkan, who have seen all January 6 cases, the leaders of the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers doing significant time.
“The idea that the general, the person who you have pointed out who is alleged to have led this and for whom they were acting, the idea that Donald Trump will not be sentenced to jail if he is convicted seems remote to me because the judges are living through this and seeing all these other defendants.
“And it’s an insult to the rule of law that people who are underlings would get this sentence and the leader would not.”
We really do need to start to look at the reality that we could have a GOP nominee for the 2024 election in prison by the time the general election rolls around.
If you are a loyal Trump supporter, I know it will not impact your vote, but this is about the moderate and independent voters.
How are they going to react to having a candidate in an orange jumpsuit that would have to run the country from a prison cell?
We cannot lose this election because some people think it would be cool to have a president in jail.
Remember, this is about the down-ballot votes as well, and if we get a weak turnout, we could end up handing Democrats the White House and Congress… then our movement is dead.
