Democrats learned the hard way that childish antics aren’t going to work under President Donald Trump’s leadership. It could soon cost them their committee assignments. They thought they could get cute and chant over House Speaker Mike Johnson. They were miffed that their colleague Al Green was being censured for heckling the president. The initial incident happened during Trump’s sort-of-SOTU “address to congress.” What happened Thursday, March 6, only made things worse for the blue team.
Democrats went too far
House Republican Andy Ogles, representing Republicans in Tennessee, is all set to “force votes” on kicking “dozens” of Democrats “off of their committees for chanting and singing on the House floor.”
They were doing it intentionally, “over the objections of Speaker Mike Johnson.”
The House Speaker was in the process of reading out Green’s censure resolution. As an act of defiance, “dozens of House Democrats, primarily Black Caucus members and progressives, stood in the well of the House singing ‘We Shall Overcome.‘”
Though Johnson took it in stride, they’ll soon be singing a different tune.
Mike Johnson declared “the House will come to order” repeatedly, while banging his gavel like he was driving nails through his desk.
When that didn’t work, he “put the House in recess” until Democrats could get over their temper tantrum. Representative Ogles isn’t about to let them get away with that.

Refused to heed an order
Progressives intentionally ignore laws and rules. The only interest they have in passing laws and rules is the pork they can stuff in that lines their own pockets. They only enforce ones they find convenient. Ogles is doing something about that.
“Today, a group of House Democrats broke decorum during the censure of Rep. Al Green and, after multiple warnings, refused to heed the speaker’s order,” he wrote on social media.
That’s why “he is drafting privileged resolutions — which any member can force to a vote with or without support from leadership.” All on his own he plans to “remove each of them from their committees.” His idea makes a lot of sense.

“If you want to act like a child in the Halls of Congress, you will be treated like a child,” Ogles declared. Democrats aren’t going to like what comes next.
Ogles already drafted a two-page resolution. Since the disruptive Democrats can’t follow rules, they need to be placed in time out for a while. “Several Representatives should be removed from their committee assignments in light of conduct they exhibited on the floor.”
He doesn’t name any names or single out Democrats specifically. “The measure directs the House sergeant-at-arms to provide a determination as to which Members ignored the Speaker’s directive.“
