A Home Depot in Calgary, Alberta has sparked outrage with its ‘Leading Practices – Unpacking Privilege’ notice, and many are threatening to boycott the Canadian store.
The controversial notice lists social advantages such as white privilege, class privilege, Christian privilege, and cisgender privilege that can benefit some people to the detriment of others.
The handout from Home Depot highlights different types of privileges that some individuals may have over others.
It notes that “If you’re confident that the police exist to protect you, you have white privilege” or “If you can expect time off from work to celebrate your religious holidays, you have Christian privilege.”
It also lists being able-bodied, heterosexual, and male as additional types of privilege.
The packet was reportedly taken by an employee at the Home Depot in Calgary and posted on Twitter which is how it went viral.

The reception to this packet has been largely negative with many calling for a boycott against the Canadian branch of Home Depot due to their perceived insensitivity towards minorities who lack certain privileges mentioned in the packet.
Even though a spokeswoman for Home Depot did not confirm whether or not they were discontinuing this information as part of their diversity initiatives.
Sources familiar with the matter claim that they do not require employees teach these topics nor do they endorse them officially as part of their company values.
This incident is indicative of a growing trend among corporations and colleges where “woke culture” is imposed upon people through indoctrination tactics without giving them an opportunity to form their own opinions about certain issues such as race relations or gender identity politics.
Many conservatives and free speech advocates have spoken out against these attempts at enforcing what they believe are extreme views on society which do more harm than good when it comes to creating meaningful dialogue around sensitive topics like race relations in America today.
