Congress is getting Trump started off on the right foot.

The first piece of legislation that will be on Trump’s desk to sign into law is the Laken Riley Act.

This will enable federal authorities to deport criminal illegal immigrants.

Time to Go

In both the House and Senate, there were nearly 200 Democrats in total who did not support the legislation, but this bill overwhelmingly passed both chambers.

Democrats who were against the legislation are trying to tell us that the legislation makes the country less safe, which is utterly ridiculous.

For example, Rep. Adriano Espaillat (D-N.Y.) stated, “Laken Riley casts out a net to cuff, arrest and deport people who have committed minor offenses. In that sense, it is not a good thing.

“Any discussion that should be had here around the issue of border security, around the issue of immigration, should include something on Dreamers, farm workers and families.”

The legislation was named after Laken Riley, an Augusta University nursing student who was out for a jog on one of the running paths at the University of Georgia when she was murdered by an illegal.

The bill originated in the House, written by Rep. Mike Collins (R-GA), but there were several amendments added to the bill in the Senate to ensure all criminal illegals were deported.

After the bill came back to the House and passed, Collins stated, “It’s bittersweet.

“For a young lady that wanted to dedicate her career and her life to saving lives, now her name will live on forever and it will save lives.”

When you consider the message that was sent to politicians in the last election, it will be interesting to see how everyone who voted against this legislation justifies their vote.

The American people clearly want these illegals out of the country, but we are talking about illegals caught committing crimes, so this should not play well with their constituents.
