So far, by most accounts, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) has been doing a very good job.
That is showing up in his polling.
McCarthy is outpacing Paul Ryan at this point in his speakership, and it is not even close.
Good Numbers
When Paul Ryan was Speaker, two months in, he was polling at 45 percent approval rate among Republicans.
Kevin McCarthy’s overall approval rating is almost beating that, coming in at 41 percent.
Among the GOP, he has a gawdy 62 percent approval rating.
This gives him a net-30 better rating that Ryan at this stage.
McCarthy got a nice surge from the release of the January 6 videos to Tucker Carlson.
On that, McCarthy stated, We just want to make sure we go through them all, and it takes time.
“The first thing that Tucker said too, he didn’t want to show any exits to cause any problems.
“We asked the Capitol Police, ‘Were there any concerns?’
“They came back with one, and we mitigated that, but it was interesting, that one that they had a problem with, Eric Swalwell had had up on the Internet for the last two years showing that part.”
