It looks like former President Donald Trump can count on some unlikely support heading into the 2024 presidential election — from a member of the Obama family.
Malik Obama, the Kenyan-American half-brother of former President Barack Obama, confirmed his support for Trump in an interview with Breitbart News on Saturday.
While this may come as a surprise to many, it is far from Malik’s first foray into publicly supporting Donald Trump.

In 2016, Malik was vocal about his differences with his younger brother and the Democratic Party and even appeared on Fox News to explain them.
He even went so far as to publicly endorse Donald Trump during his historic run for president that year.
As a result, then candidate Donald Trump invited him to one of his debates against Hillary Clinton – something which certainly did not go unnoticed by those watching at home.
However, despite backing his brother during the 2008 and 2012 elections, Malik has since stopped supporting him politically when he was still in office.
Furthermore, it seems that their relationship hasn’t improved much more since Barack left office either.
When asked about how he feels about his younger brother now compared to before he became president, “I don’t get along with him,” said the elder Obama speaking to Breitbart adding, “it seems like once he became a big shot it got to his head.”
I stuck with Barack Obama all through his presidency, until I realized he was all about himself. That's when I ditched him for President Trump.

Malik has also criticized other aspects of Barack’s presidency such as removing Muammar Qaddafi from power in 2011 NATO intervention according to Business Insider.
Clearly there are quite a few issues between these two brothers which have yet to be resolved.
