Joe Biden made his obligatory appearance at the Summit of the Americas, held in Los Angeles, California. While there, he promised to “hold a meeting with regional governments.” That’s when he’ll “sign a declaration that aims to address migration.” It isn’t be meant to stop or slow the flood of immigration. Joe promises to streamline the flow, to help more migrants get in.
A crisis for Biden
Immigration is a crisis, Joe Biden admits. It’s a crisis because we can’t get everyone in who wants in. Even though none of the Latin American leaders attended, “Nations,” with “borders” are a thing of the past, he assures. We have one big happy global government now.
His “Los Angeles Declaration on Migration” is meant to be “an unprecedented and ambitious step.” He wants the meeting by Friday, to get the deal signed before everyone goes home.
This bold new plan “is centered on responsibility sharing and economic support for countries that have been most impacted by refugees and migration.”
Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador didn’t waste his time with an appearance. He wasn’t going to show because Cuba, Nicaragua, and Venezuela weren’t invited. Even though he was a no-show, López Obrador is expected to let Foreign Secretary Marcelo Ebrard wrangle with Biden.
“We are very confident that the countries that will sign on to the Declaration on Migration will be committed to its goals.” He made sure to point out that those goals came from his side of the fence.
“Just to clarify,” he added, “that includes Mexico. The Mexican government has been a full participant in the development of the initiative.”
A huge pile of cash
They will sign because a huge pile of cash comes along with it. The declaration, according to officials, “is closely tied to the economic agenda that Biden will present at the summit.”
For distraction purposes, the cash has nothing to do with immigration. Biden just decided to be nice an prop up Latin American economies with Covid cash.
“The America’s Partnership for Economic Prosperity is part of the administration’s efforts to promote an equitable recovery in a hemisphere after the COVID-19 pandemic.”
He also plans to throw an extra $300 million at them as “assistance for the region to address food insecurity.”
The Biden plan will “focus on five areas.” The idea is to start with “reinvigorating regional economic institutions and mobilizing investments.” That way they can snuff out MS-13 and the cocaine trade by “updating the social contract between governments and people.”
Pete Buttigieg will be on hand to assist them in “creating a resilient supply chain.” Other U.S. officials and experts will “focus on decarbonization, biodiversity, and clean energy jobs.” Nobody will want to migrate after Biden sets up all the “sustainable and inclusive trade.“
