When I saw the report that Christie was going to launch another run at the White House, I could not hold back the laughter.
Christie is not even registering on polls right now, yet he is going to launch a campaign.
Even when Christie was relevant, he barely broke one percent.
Trump hammered Christie on this front during his Fox News Town Hall.
Why?
When Hannity asked Trump what he thought about the launching of Christie’s campaign, he went off.
Trump stated, “I don’t know why people are doing it. They’re at one percent. Some are at zero.
“I hear Chris Christie’s coming in. He’s at – he was at 6% in New Jersey, which is – I love New Jersey, but 6% approval rating in New Jersey.
“What’s the purpose? And he’s polling at zero.”
I can answer that question.
Christie is coming in as a hitman for someone else’s campaign.
Ever since Christie and Trump have severed their relationship, Christie has been in attack mode against Trump.
My guess here is that someone from DeSantis’ camp suggested that Christie run to launch non-stop attacks against Trump in a way that DeSantis does not want to do.
This will take Trump’s attention away from DeSantis because we all know that regardless of who is taking the shots, Trump is incapable of letting those shots go unanswered.
There is no explanation because there is no way that Christie can possibly believe he has a shot of winning this thing.
On the other hand, he loves being the hit man, just as he was against Bush in 2016 when Trump launched his presidential bid.
Same tactic, just a different ally this time.
