The news that 42 year old illegal alien Cuban immigrant, Alexis Saborit, was acquitted of the beheading of his 55 year old American citizen girlfriend, America Thayer, has caused shock and outrage among many.
Last week Judge Caroline Lennon ruled that Saborit’s mental illness prevented him from understanding that his actions were morally wrong.
It is a ruling which has made many question what kind of society we are living in.
On July 28 2021 police were called after someone saw Saborit throw Thayer’s head out of his vehicle at an intersection.
Officers arriving on the scene found her body lying on the ground next to her head with a large knife sheath and a knife in a trash can in an alley close by.
When questioned by law enforcement Saborit said he did it because Thayer was planning to leave him.
The defense argued that due to a traumatic brain injury from a 2017 car crash, Saborit had delusions and hallucinations which prompted him to commit murder.
Charles Thayer (America’s son) expressed confusion at how somebody could commit such cold-blooded murder yet still be considered insane when there was evidence of motive and premeditation as well as having told friends he would do it days before killing her.
He went on to explain the history of abuse towards his mother by Sabort saying “This is your typical tell-tale abusive man controlling a relationship for many, many years.”
Breibart News reports that America had legally immigrated to the US prior and changed her name after becoming an American citizen.
Despite being found not guilty due to mental illness Alexis Saborit will remain incarcerated until sentenced by Judge Lennon sometime this summer according to Fox 9 News.
The judge also pointed out that even if he is released he will have no place or status in the US given his illegal presence here since 2012 when ICE released him into the country without legal status being granted.
