This story might be another head scratcher. A pineapple: just a fruit and you’d think nothing more of it, right? Well, you’d be wrong in this situation, as this couple made a shocking discovery about the meaning of finding a pineapple on their doorstep.
One evening, this man came home from work around 7 pm with no strange fruit in sight. But when his girlfriend arrived home an hour later, she found a pineapple outside their door accompanied by a note that read “welcome”.
The couple simply ignored the pineapple overnight but when they woke up in the morning, it was still there.
At first, the man thought that someone must have left it there as some kind of marker for a potential robbery. He wondered if maybe criminals were getting smarter and using pineapples instead of white spray paint Xs on doors to mark their targets. To be safe, he decided to take the pineapple inside before heading off to work.
When he shared his story with a friend at work, he soon realized what this mysterious pineapple really meant: an invitation to join in on a swinger party.
He learned that placing a pineapple at someone’s door apparently indicates they’re hosting such an event while an upside down pineapple means they’re looking for swingers. In this case, leaving the Pineapple right side up at night indicated that whoever left it wanted him specifically to attend.
Turns out the person behind this strange gesture wasn’t interested in swinging after all –– it was just his friend playing a joke on him.
During one wild night out drinking at a pub near their house, his friend had seen this pineapple sitting in the window of gift shop and thought it would make for great decor back at his place. Of course when he heard about its true meaning –– or rather lack thereof –– everyone had quite a good laugh about it all.
