Troops wearing the uniform of Russia are shooting each other, for refusing to shoot innocent civilians. They’re also deserting in droves. Cracks are beginning to appear in the Russian resolve as soldiers learn that the story on the ground in Ukraine doesn’t match the one they were told.
Ranks break on Russia side
One captured soldier fighting for mother Russia is begging for mercy after he was shot by his own troops. War is hell but all he was doing is trying to protect innocent Ukrainian citizens. His lieutenant wasn’t so lucky.
The incident happened February 24, in the city of Kharkiv. “My forces began to shoot at my legs.” He was hit in the foot and his lieutenant killed when other troops “realized the pair weren’t shooting at civilians.”
As both sides opened fire people dove for cover. a woman in her twenties, and her mother were caught in the crossfire. “Your (Ukrainian) forces began to shoot at ours. And then, while ours were being shot at, me and my lieutenant were helping civilians.”
The Russia lieutenant “ran over to them, began to take them out of the car, shouting ‘come over over here.‘” After about 20 minutes, “they noticed me and the lieutenant were saving civilians and an order was given to shoot me and the lieutenant and the civilians.”
The mother was killed along with the lieutenant. While the soldier and the girl in his care “began to retreat,” Russia troops “began to shoot me in the legs.”
They took shelter in a garage, which saved their lives. “If it wasn’t for this garage, they would have killed me the same as they had with the mother and lieutenant.”

Get the keys
“Me and the daughter sat behind this garage. We hid until it quietened down and the daughter suggested to drive away, call for forces.”
Ukrainian forces, not Russia. “She went to find her mother, who was next to the lieutenant. Got the keys.” Keys to the family car.
The Russia born soldier “crawled to the car and she put me in the backseat. She started the car and drove.” That’s about when he lost consciousness.
“When he came to, woke up thirsty, explaining the civilian was able to get him some water before they got medical attention.” More atrocity is being attributed to Russia with a video released by the Ukrainian Security Service. They’re deserting because they found out they were lied to.
“Despite warnings from above that they face seven years in jail” for desertion, “‘many‘ Russian troops are fleeing the war.” One Russian military technician who transported equipment in need of repair from Ukraine was questioned. “Many have already left home. Many are fleeing, they don’t want to go to war. What is it for? No one needs this, this war. No one wants this.”
Around month ago “they gathered us, gave us documents, and told us to say we’re willing to participate in a special operation. Even if you didn’t want to sign up for it, you did, and everyone was 100% told to go, they were sent.” Also, “a lieutenant-colonel in the Russia national guard’s special rapid response unit, said his countrymen have been ‘brainwashed‘ into supporting the war.” They were told “the government had been overthrown by Nazis” and needed “liberating.“
