As most of you know, Senator Joe Manchin (D-W.V.) has become a problem for Democrats.
It has even gotten to the point that he wants to repeal a piece of legislation he helped write.
Now the Biden administration is trying to toss him a bone, one he should have already had, to get him back with Democrats.
About That Pipeline
When Manchin signed off on the Inflation Reduction Act, he was promised a pipeline.
Schumer and Biden jerked it out right beneath him, and Manchin has been on a tear ever since.
Now they are dangling it again.
Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm recently wrote to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), stating, “Energy infrastructure, like the MVP project, can help ensure the reliable delivery of energy that heats homes and businesses, and powers electric generators that support the reliability of the electric system.
“Natural gas—and the infrastructure, such as MVP, that supports its delivery and use—can play an important role as part of the clean energy transition, particularly with broad advances in and deployment of carbon capture technology facilitated by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and Inflation Reduction Act.”
Conservation advocates are already pushing back, which could stifle the project again.
David Sligh, the conservation director of Wild Virginia, “Secretary Granholm’s letter is inaccurate.
“This destructive project has never been needed and won’t enhance our energy security.
“It’s not designed to help consumers and it abuses private landowners and our resources.
“MVP’s investors should quit now and not throw more good money after bad.”
It will be interesting to see this play out because without Manchin, Dems will not be able to move anything out of the Senate.
