Joe Biden’s heavy handed palace administrators chased two of “the FDA’s most senior vaccine leaders” right out of the picture. It has beltway pundits raising their eyebrows over how thoroughly the FDA was sidelined from the drug approval process to push untested blends out to the public.
Vaccine veterans had enough
The news was first announced by industry insider BioCentury, who called the exit of two FDA heavy hitters “a massive blow to confidence in the agency’s ability to regulate vaccines.” Described as among the “most senior vaccine leaders” at the Food and Drug Administration, Marion Gruber and Phil Krause will leave a huge hole in FDA leadership.
Gruber served for 32 years and made her way up to director of the agency’s Office of Vaccines Research & Review. Her deputy director, Phil Krause, “who’s been at FDA for more than a decade,” is following her out the door. Gruber leaves at the end of October and Krause heads off into the sunset in November.
Liberals who think that vaccine shots are the only think keeping them alive right now are stunned by the “bombshell” announcement. The left-wing media says the exits come “at a particularly crucial moment, as boosters and children’s shots are being weighed by the regulator.”
It seems the scientists weren’t happy that the palace went behind their backs to ignore their recommendations. BioCentury notes the “departures also come as the administration has recently jumped ahead of the FDA’s reviews of booster shots, announcing that they might be available by the week of September 20.”
One of their previous co-workers, a “former senior FDA leader” points out that “they’re departing because they’re frustrated that CDC and their ACIP committee are involved in decisions that they think should be up to the FDA.”
He knew for a while that they were “upset with CBER director Peter Marks for not insisting that those decisions should be kept inside FDA.” One more vaccine needle on the pile was all it took to trigger the collapse.
Palace takes over
According to the former FDA official, what “finally did it for them was the White House getting ahead of FDA on booster shots.” Another former FDA “acting chief scientist” Luciana Borio backs that up. She tweeted that the “FDA is losing two giants who helped bring us many safe and effective vaccines over decades of public service.”
When former BARDA director Rick Bright heard the news, he posted that Gruber and Krause “are the leaders for Biologic (vaccine) review in the US. They have a great team, but these two are the true leaders of CBER. A huge global loss if they both leave.”
Not only is Dr. Gruber the top expert for the U.S., she’s recognized world wide. “Dr. Gruber is much more than the Director. She is a global leader. Visionary mastermind behind global clinical regulatory science for flu, Ebola, Mers, Zika, Sars-cov-2, many others.”
Some of those are really scary strains. If Ebola went around the way covid did, the human race would be extinct. There isn’t any vaccine for Ebola.
Dr. Peter Marks released a formal announcement of the moves noting that Dr. Gruber led to three different Covid-19 vaccine blends being approved and ensuring that they “met the high standards the public has come to expect from the FDA, and has positively impacted the public health in the United States and across the globe.
They can’t thank Dr. Krause enough for “his extraordinary commitment and effort in helping guide OVRR during the ongoing public health emergency.”
