Rescue Helicopter Crashes Into Apartment Building With Multiple Injuries Reported

Early Monday morning, an unfortunate and devastating helicopter crash occurred in Pompano Beach.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) Fire Rescue helicopter crashed into a building.

It was carrying three people at the time of the accident.

Video footage from the scene showed the aircraft emitting smoke before spinning out of control and crashing.

Sandra King, a spokeswoman for Pompano Beach stated that two crew members on board, as well as two civilians from the apartment building were hospitalized following the crash, but none of them had sustained critical injuries.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have both said they will investigate this incident to understand what caused it.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office released an official statement about this incident: “We are currently working a developing incident regarding a helicopter crash located near North Dixie Highway and Atlantic Boulevard in Pompano Beach.”

They also advised motorists to avoid that area while emergency personnel responded to the situation.

At 8:46am local time was when they first received reports of an aircraft alert southwest of the Pompano Beach Airpark.

After arriving on-site two people were transported to nearby hospitals by Pompano Beach Fire Rescue units.

Local 10 News reporter Samiar Nefzi spoke with family members from those injured during this accident – one being a man who heard loud noises from his apartment shortly after hearing fire erupting everywhere nearby him soon after he heard those noises.

As of now there has yet to be any confirmation if there were any fatalities resulting from this crash or not.

However due to all involved parties being rushed to nearby hospitals it’s safe to assume that no one died due to their injuries sustained during this tragic event.
