When Senator Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) sent out invitations for this year’s orientation, there were two senators-elect that Schumer did not invite.

Among them was Senator-election McCormick (R-PA), the second being Rep. Gallego (D. AZ), who will be taking over the seat vacated by Senator Sinema.

There was immediate pushback since some outlets had already called the race in their favor, and Schumer has finally folded.

Not Invited

Both of these races have been called, but there were one or two holdouts in terms of the media.

Why they were waiting made no sense, as neither of their opponents had a path forward based on the remaining votes and the counties from which they were coming.

But it’s not like these races were only called by Fox News, as the Associated Press and several other leftist outlets have called the races as well.

Even so, Schumer’s office stated, “With over 100,000 ballots left to be counted in Pennsylvania, the race has not been decided. As is custom, we will invite the winner once the votes are counted.”

Senator Sinema (I-AZ), disagreed, “In 2018 my race wasn’t called for 6 days. I jumped on a redeye to DC to make Senate orientation — I learned so much & made lasting relationships that week. Dave McCormick & Ruben Gallego will be senators for PA & AZ. They should be invited to orientation & start learning the job.”

If Schumer was not going to invite McCormick, Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) said he would take care of it himself.

He stated, “I’m willing to personally escort @DaveMcCormickPA into the Capitol for new-senator orientation. I’d like to see how they’d keep him out if he literally walked into ‘the room where it happens.’”

Schumer’s office did finally cave, announcing, “Ruben Gallego and David McCormick have been invited to attend orientation.”

This all seems pretty petty to me by Schumer, as if he was flexing one more time before being booted from power.
