This week, there was a massive explosion at a Texas dairy farm.
The explosion resulted in the death of at least 18,000 cows.
We still have no idea just how much this will impact the economy around the country.
Devasting Loss
The blow to the dairy industry is crushing.
The blow to the local economy in Texas is even worse.
The explosion at the South Fork Dairy farm is still under investigation, but authorities did speculate on what probably caused the explosion.
Castro County Sheriff Sal Rivera stated, “The speculation was probably what they call a honey badger, which is a vacuum that sucks the manure and water out and possibly that it got overheated and probably the methane and things like that ignited and spread out and exploded and the fire.”
The pictures that I saw were horrific.
Dead cows were seen all throughout the farm, burned down to the bone.
One person was injured in the explosion, and she was rescued and taken to a local hospital for treatment.
We are still waiting for an update on her condition.
A local judge summed it up perfectly, stating, “This is a devastating loss that will impact many.”
