Governor Gavin Newsom is officially desperate.
He has been off gallivanting around the country, taking a tour of red states.
All the while, his state is being overrun with a fentanyl crisis.
So, guess what he did when he returned to try to get the situation under control?
Bring in the Troops
Newsom has decided that the way to deal with the fentanyl crisis that is overtaking California cities is to hand it off to the military.
This week, he announced a joint operation between the California Highway Patrol, California National Guard, San Francisco Police Department, and the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office.
In making the announcement, he, of course, decided to take a shot at a few red cities as well.
He stated, “Two truths can co-exist at the same time: San Francisco’s violent crime rate is below comparably sized cities like Jacksonville and Fort Worth — and there is also more we must do to address public safety concerns, especially the fentanyl crisis.
“We’re taking action.
“Through this new collaborative partnership, we are providing more law enforcement resources and personnel to crack down on crime linked to the fentanyl crisis, holding the poison peddlers accountable, and increasing law enforcement presence to improve public safety and public confidence in San Francisco.”
What I find amusing is the reaction of the Democrat mayor.
Can you imagine if Trump had recommended that the National Guard be activated to address an issue like this in any Democrat city?
They would have stated that he was declaring martial law.
Instead, the Democrat mayor of that cesspool of a city stated, “I want to thank Governor Newsom for this critical support to help break up the open-air drug dealing happening in our city.
“Our Police Department and District Attorney have been partnering to tackle this issue and increase enforcement, but our local agencies can use more support.
“With the Governor’s leadership and clear direction, our state enforcement agencies can partner with us to make a difference for our residents, businesses, and workers who are living with the impacts every day.”
Funny how this is okay as long as it is a Dem giving the order.
