CNN’s Don Lemon has put his foot in his mouth again.

Lemon got caught on a hot mic being critical of comedian/activist Jon Stewart.

Honestly, considering Stewart has been more activist than a comedian in recent years, his comments were dead on, but they were not exactly well-received, and he went into immediate spin mode.

Oops

Stewart has more or less left the entertainment world and has been dedicating himself to the welfare of our veterans and their fights for quite some time now.

During an interview that was being discussed, Stewart was calling out government officials for not being able to document where all the money is going that is being budgeted, which is a very legitimate argument.

I have made that same point myself numerous times.

As the Stewart interaction winds down, you can hear Lemon say, “He gets a lot of leeway with the comedian thing, though.”

You can absolutely hear the cattiness in his tone as he says it, but then he went into spin mode when someone probably told him in his ear that his mic was hot when he said it.

As they went back to the studio, Lemon states, “We’re just discussing that Jon Stewart is so much more than a comedian — he’s a thought leader.”

As I stated above, his observation was not wrong, but he surely could have put it a different way and in a far different tone.

He could have said something like, “They still call him a comedian, but he left that in the rearview mirror a long time ago to take up this fight for our veterans, I believe he is more activist than anything else right now.”

Instead, he comes off as a jerk, again, but the man still has his job for some reason.
