While some members of Congress are under self-quarantine for exposure, none of them have tested positive, until now.
Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart (R-FL) announced on Twitter that he has tested positive for COVID-19.
Getting Better
Diaz-Balart stated that he is getting better as well as encouraging everyone to work together during this crisis…
I'm feeling much better. However, it's important that everyone take this seriously and follow @CDCgov guidelines in order to avoid getting sick & mitigate the spread of this virus. We must continue to work together to emerge stronger as a country during these trying times. pic.twitter.com/g5W5vSQIyH

The congressman is 58 years old, so he would not fall into that high-risk group and is expected to make a full recovery.
While he is the first member of Congress to test positive, he is far from the first high-profile politician to have been impacted.
Most notably, the wives of Canadian PM Justin Trudeau and Spanish PM Pedro Sanchez have both tested positive.
The virus has also hit several major stars in Hollywood, most notably power couple Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson as well as Idris Elba.
Additionally, Game of Thrones actor Kristopher Hivju (Tormund Giantsbane on the show) tested positive earlier this week.
The virus has also impacted the NBA, which caused this initial spur of shutting down sporting events.
Utah Jazz player Rudy Gobert was the first to test positive, and now Donovan Mitchell and Kevin Durant have tested positive.
Three additional Brooklyn Nets players have been infected and one player in the NHL, who has yet to be identified.
It is important to realize numbers are going to continue to grow dramatically as more and more testing is done, but this is not a reason to panic, no matter how the mainstream media spins this.
Progress on treatments seems to be going very well, so treatment may become available very soon.
