The House Foreign Affairs Republicans are under attack by the Biden administration because they hit a nerve.
Their Afghanistan report is out and it has some hard truths for Democrats to swallow.
Again, Biden is deflecting, but the committee is cutting right through the excuse like a knife through butter.
Not Really, Joe
The report concluded that Joe Biden’s withdrawal “led to tragic yet avoidable outcomes: 13 dead service members, American lives still at great risk, increased threats to our homeland security, tarnished standing abroad for years to come, and emboldened enemies across the globe.”
The White House says no… they inherited Donald Trump’s deal and it is all the bad orange man’s fault.
It stated, “This partisan report is riddled with inaccurate characterizations, cherry-picked information, and false claims.”
Arguing it “ignores the impacts of the flawed deal that former President Trump struck with the Taliban.”
Yes, Trump struck the deal, but when Biden came into office, even General Milley, the Joint Chiefs Chairman, admitted AFTER the withdrawal that the Taliban had stopped adhering to the deal’s guidelines.
At the time, he stated, “While the Taliban did not attack U.S. forces … it failed to fully honor any … other commitments.”
That should have been the end of the deal, but Biden wanted out, so he got out.
Rep. Michael McCaul (R-TX) stated, “Biden specifically said … he would have pulled out all of the troops against the advice of his own senior military advisers, the intelligence community, and our allies whether the Doha agreement existed or not.
“The Doha agreement was not perfect, but it absolutely did not force this disastrous withdrawal.”
Biden also developed his own plan to leave, so this is all on him no matter how bad he tries to deflect.
At some point, history will look at this presidency honestly and I would hate to have the Biden last name when that happens.
