Texas Governor Greg Abbott has announced that he wants to pardon a convicted murderer.
The news hit liberals like a ton of bricks.
The case dates back to the rioting that took place in 2020 and an Army Sergeant that feared for his life.
Stand Your Ground
First and foremost, you need to know that Texas is a firm “stand your ground” state.
This means, when you fear for your life, you are permitted to use deadly force to protect yourself.
Army Sergeant Daniel Perry was driving in downtown Austin when his car was surrounded by rioters.
They started to pound on his car, then Garrett Foster raised an AK-47 at Perry, at which point Perry drew his own weapon, shooting and killing Foster.
The police ruled the shooting self-defense, but a Soros DA decided to charge in him anyway.
Detective David Fugitt, who has since retired after a three-decade career with Austin police, says the local DA, who was elected with George Soros money, rigged the case.
He stated, “It became clear to me that the District Attorney’s Office did not want to present evidence to the grand jury that would be exculpatory to Daniel Perry and/or to show that witness statements obtained by the family of Garrett Foster and/or their attorneys were inconsistent with prior interviews such ‘witnesses’ gave the police and/or the video of the incident in question.”
After the conviction, Governor Abbott referred the case to the Board of Pardons for consideration.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton added, “Self-defense is a God-given right, not a crime. Unfortunately, the Soros-backed DA in Travis County cares more about the radical agenda of dangerous Antifa and BLM mobs than justice.”
Let’s hope the pardon goes through because it seems pretty clear that Perry was railroaded.
