It took a crowbar to leverage a budget deal through the House but they passed one. It happened at the absolute last minute, after almost everyone gave up on convincing the holdouts. President Donald Trump didn’t stop bludgeoning the balky lawmakers until he got what America wanted.

Budget deal goes through

The House had already given up on getting the budget deal vote on the floor. Many Republican lawmakers had already left the building when they got a call to get their bottoms back in the Capitol, quick.

After the dust settled, Democrats were spewing crying emojis in the comment bar.

It’s not surprising that the numbers split right along the party lines. Every single Democrat they could drag into the building predictably voted against the budget measure. The only RINO traitor daring to defy the will of We the People is Thomas Massie of Kentucky.

Holding out to the very last minute were Tim Burchett of Tennessee, Warren Davidson of Ohio and Victoria Spartz of Indiana. They eventually listened to reason and voted “aye.” The final tally was 217-215.

This was a major step forward but it isn’t a law yet. It has to go through the Senate first. They already passed their own version of the budget that does the same thing in two parts.

The only problem there is that they will need at least 10 Democrats to cross the aisle. Progressives have already promised to shut down government first.

More fiscal discipline

Most of the Republican holdouts didn’t think the budget cuts were drastic enough. They wanted “wanted more fiscal discipline.

They were worried Trump’s goal to cut $4.5 trillion in taxes, offset with matching cuts in federal spending, would add to the growing mountain of federal debt. They apparently don’t have any faith in the power of tariffs.

The version which finally passed the house provides $2 trillion in spending cuts spread out over the next 10 years. It includes “more than $100 billion in new spending on immigration enforcement and the military.” That should make Border Czar Tom Homan happy.

Cuts will come from the fraud and mismanagement DOGE uncovers.

The House budget also extends “tax breaks passed during his first term in office, which are due to expire at the end of the year.

Trump was quick to assure the public that Medicaid won’t be affected by the drastic cuts, no matter what Democrats are saying to misinform the public. The only cuts will come from the fraud and mismanagement DOGE uncovers.

Social Security won’t be touched, other than this fraud or something we’re going to find. It’s going to be strengthened, but won’t be touched. Medicare, Medicaid, none of that stuff is going to be touched.” The budget bill is now in the hands of the Senate to be merged with the one they already hashed out.
