Liberals are coming out of the woodwork to take shots at Trump and Vance now.
Usually, we have one, maybe two October surprises, but we are already well past that with Harris and Trump.
And now an attorney is trying to have Vance disqualified from the race.
He Disqualified Himself
Matthew A. Seligman, a partner at Stris & Maher LLP and a fellow at the Constitutional Law Center at Stanford Law School, believes Vance disqualified himself by backing Trump’s premise that the certification of the 2020 election should have been halted.
In an op-ed in the New York Times, he wrote, “Unlike Mike Pence, Mr. Vance has made clear that he is willing to cater to Mr. Trump’s obsession with the myth that his victory in the 2020 presidential election was stolen, and that on Jan. 6 Vice President Pence refused to exercise his constitutional powers to prevent that theft.
“Unwavering commitment to those two lies served as critical qualifications for Mr. Vance to be selected as Mr. Trump’s running mate.
“In the 2024 election, that dedication must also disqualify Mr. Vance from ever holding the office he now seeks.”
What is interesting about this is what the 12th Amendment would actually allow.
The fact of the matter is that the 12th Amendment in no way, shape, or form allows the VP, who would be serving as the president of the Senate, to halt the proceedings.
According to the amendment, the VP’s only duty is to open the certificates and count them. It never authorizes the VP to halt the proceedings or exercise any other control.
So, regardless of the Stance that JD Vance makes there, halting the certification would never work, so how can he be disqualified for something he would never be able to do?
I get it… it may not be the strongest argument to make, but it is a fact.
The bottom line here is that Dems are desperate because they thought subbing in Kamala would create a landslide win and while she did get an initial bump, she is drifting back to Trump, and it is panic time throughout the part.
Sorry, Mr. Seligman, but this is not going to work.
