Now that Joe Biden has allowed a few million illegals to enter the country, he wants to shut off the faucet.
As it turns out, he is going to use a rule that is very close to an old Trump rule that Democrats sued to have ended.
The similarities in the legislation were not missed by activists, and now they are spitting mad.
Too Close to Trump
The new rule would “encourage migrants to avail themselves of lawful, safe, and orderly pathways into the United States, or otherwise to seek asylum or other protection in countries through which they travel, thereby reducing reliance on human smuggling networks that exploit migrants for financial gain.”
Krish O’Mara Vignarajah, President and CEO of Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service, responded, “This rule reaches into the dustbin of history to resurrect one of the most harmful and illegal anti-asylum policies of the Trump administration.
“Requiring persecuted people to first seek protection in countries with no functioning asylum systems themselves is a ludicrous and life-threatening proposal.”
Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.) and Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) were also upset, stating, “We are deeply disappointed in the Biden administration’s proposal to limit access to asylum.
“The ability to seek asylum is a bedrock principle protected by federal law and should never be violated.”
Make no mistake about it, this is going to be a problem for Biden.
