Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-N.Y.) is out of work come January.
Since he lost his election for NY governor, he will have plenty of free time on his hands.
However, his near-defeat of Governor Hochul has gained him legendary status, and it sounds like he wants to cash in.
Time for Change
Since the disastrous 2022 election cycle has concluded, many of us have been clamoring change at the top of the food chain in the GOP.
That is not going happen in the Senate, and it is not going to happen in the House.
It may, however, happen at the RNC.
Rumors are now flying that the Zeldin is going to take a run at RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel for the position.
Scoop: In a sign that he is inching closer toward running for chair of the RNC, Lee Zeldin is sending an email to committee members today that says he is “very seriously considering” a bid. https://t.co/tdRH41tZvt

McDaniel has held the seat since 2017 and has already received a vote of confidence from roughly 100 of the members of the committee, but that was before Zeldin put his name into the hat.
Zeldin has a far larger profile and after McConnell and McCarthy were both re-elected to their leadership positions, voters made it quite clear they were unhappy there was no change.
This is a change I would love to see happen, but we need Zeldin to officially enter before we can get a gauge if some of those 100 are willing to cross McDaniel and turn the page on her leadership.
