A bill that overwhelmingly passed the State Senate in Ohio was defeated in the state House.
The bill would have banned boys from playing in girls’ sports in Ohio, but it failed to pass the General Assembly.
Republican Governor DeWine was against the legislation, warning state lawmakers to stay out of this discussion.
How Did It Fail?
I don’t know how anyone can support biological males playing in girls’ sports.
We have already seen the devastating results in contact sports when this happens.
The NHL was sponsoring a transgender hockey league when a biological male hit a biological female and absolutely crushed her.
The failed legislation would have protected girls on the sports field.
The legislation read that no athletic conference or school in the state “shall permit individuals of the male sex to participate on athletic teams or in athletic competitions designated only for participants of the female sex.”
Governor DeWine did not support the legislation, stating, “This issue is best addressed outside of government through individual sports leagues and athletic associations, including the Ohio High School Athletic Association, who can tailor policies to meet the needs of their member athletes and member institutions.”
The local athletic commissions refuse to address the situation because there are only a handful of transgender athletes in the state at this time.
