D.H. Peligro is dead.
The former Red Hot Chili Peppers and Dead Kennedy’s drummer died after taking a fall in his home.
He was only 63 years old.
Kennedys to Peppers to Kennedys
Peligro was the second drummer for the Dead Kennedys, taking over for Ted in 1981 and performing with the band until they broke up in 1986.
In 1988, he joined the Chili Peppers, but only for a brief stint.
The band loved him, but he had a substance abuse issue that interfered with his playing, so they had to fire him.
Flea said he could not get out of bed for days after they let him go.
He was replaced by Chad Smith, who has been with the band ever since.
Even though he was out of the band, lead singer Anthony Kiedis, who had his own struggles, was active in helping Peligro get sober.

When the Dead Kennedys got back together in 2001, Peligro was once again behind the kit.
He took a small break in 2008, but he rejoined the band in 2009 and has remained with them since.
The group was in the middle of a European tour at the time of his death, but no announcement has been made yet regarding a replacement or cancelation of events.
