I have had my reservations about Tulsi Gabbard as the Director of National Intelligence, and I am far from alone.
There are numerous Republicans who have expressed concerns, and according to reports, Gabbard is doing nothing to impress them.
It now looks like she has quite a bit of work ahead of her to win them over.
Just Flopping
Something I found hard to believe in the criticisms of Gabbard is that she was not really prepared for these meetings.
During her debates and subsequent interviews over the last few years, one thing Gabbard has always been is prepared.
So, needless to say, I was surprised to see one source who stated, “She was proving to be a little shallow, like a House member talking at a hearing and not someone who needs to provide the president’s daily intelligence briefing.”
A Republican Senator added, “I’ve heard that she’s not very well prepared. I’ve heard not great things.”
Trump transition spokesperson Alexa Henning responded to the criticism of Gabbard, stating, “These cowardly anonymous sources are desperately trying to hold on to power, so they hide behind the media to spread these falsities that directly subvert the will of the American people.
“President Trump won with a mandate for change from the American people, and that’s one of the reasons he nominated Lt. Col. Gabbard for DNI.”
Sadly, the unnamed source is a reality in today’s media, and they often seem more wrong than right in recent years, but we will see.
As I stated before, I thought Gabbard would have been great doing something for our veterans, but to put her as the DNI is a bit odd to me.
She is one of about 10 or so appointments by Trump who will have a hard time getting through the Senate vetting process.
