As we draw closer and closer to the upcoming 2024 election, it appears nothing is stopping former President Donald Trump from dominating the polls. Trump continues to remain the front runner, despite his decision to not attend the first and second RNC Republican primary debates.
Now, Trump’s campaign has called on the Republican National Committee to cancel all future debates for the 2024 primary elections.
In a statement released on Wednesday, September 27, after seven candidates had their forum moderated by Fox Business at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, the Trump campaign stated that this debate was “inconsequential” and nothing discussed will change the dynamics of how President Trump is dominating the current primary contest.
The statement reads: “President Trump has a 40- or 50-point lead in the primary election and a 10-point lead over Joe Biden in the general election, and it’s clear that President Trump alone can defeat Biden. The RNC should immediately put an end to any further primary debates so we can train our fire on Crooked Joe Biden and quit wasting time and money that could be going to evicting Biden from the White House.”

According to Real Clear Politics average, President Donald J. Trump currently holds 56.6 percent of support among likely voters – with his closest competitor being Florida Governor Ron DeSantis at 14.4 percent – leaving each of those six candidates who debated in California polling in single digits.
His most vocal critic, former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is currently sitting at 2.7 percent according to RCP average as well.
During the recent debate Chris Christie attacked Trump from stage calling him “Donald Duck” for not participating in the forum while he was campaigning downstate Michigan that same evening instead.
DeSantis later called for him to participate in a one-on-one debate which Fox News host Sean Hannity agreed to moderate on behalf of DeSantis saying “you owe it to voters.”
Trump responded citing polling percentages as his rationale for not taking part of any of these debates stating: “Why would I allow people at 1 or 2 percent and 0 percent to be hitting me with questions all night?”
