Fulton County DA Fani Willis is hoping to fill in the one small gap in Trump’s primary schedule with her trial.
She is apparently looking for a February start, which would squeeze her in between the first Jack Smith case and the Alvin Bragg case in March.
Due to the nature of the indictment, former White House Counsel Ty Cobb says that will never happen.
Expect Delays
Willis indicted 18 Trump associates in addition to the former president.
That alone could cause numerous delays, as some of these will surely file for separation.
In fact, former Chief of Staff Mark Meadows already has a filing to move his case out of Fulton County to a federal court.
Cobb explained, “There’s no chance in my view that Fani Willis goes within two years,” saying“ motions galore” will wind up pushing the trial date back.
He added, “And if it takes her, you know, two years — I mean, heaven forbid that Trump wins the presidency — then then there will be a fight to the Supreme Court over whether she can proceed against the sitting president during his term.
“That’s an issue that’s never been resolved.
“The federal prosecutors are not allowed to indict or prosecute the president during his term.
“But as to state court prosecutors, that issue has never been resolved and could delay things quite some time.”
If Cobb is right, that would throw a rather significant wrench into the plans of the liberal horde to derail Trump’s campaign.
