Trump has been hitting DeSantis for months.
Even though the attacks have been many, none of them have really hit home.
In fact, most of them have fallen flat.
That changed last week because of a bit of a gaffe by DeSantis.
The Misstep
DeSantis has been running a bit of a shadow campaign hidden behind speaking engagements and his book tour.
There are some people that will say you should not be running for president when you hold another office, and what happened to DeSantis is a perfect example of that.
DeSantis was off in Ohio promoting his book while a major city was completely underwater.

What made matters worse was the fact that DeSantis had not even checked in before the press conference took place.
I think some were hoping that the Florida legislature would rewrite the rules to allow him to run and stay in office.
I think the opposite should happen… if he wants to run, resign, then devote yourself to the campaign.
There is no way you can govern a state and hit the road the way you need to in order to run for president.
If I were Trump, I would keep hammering that position.
