Joe Biden is whining about money again, but this time he is threatening to veto legislation if it comes to his desk.
The one good thing that Kevin McCarthy did while he was speaker was break out the spending bill into single pieces of legislation.
One of the bad things he did was negotiate a spending bill with Biden without getting the House to sign off on it first.
Now, Biden is calling the GOP out, and threatening to veto a bill that does not match the spending he and McCarthy agreed to.
VETO
The bill in question is an appropriations bill for energy and water.
According to Biden, the money in the legislation is less than he and McCarthy agreed to.
The White House stated, “House Republicans had an opportunity to engage in a productive, bipartisan appropriations process, but instead are wasting time with partisan bills that cut domestic spending to levels well below the FRA agreement and endanger critical services for the American people.
“These levels would result in deep cuts to clean energy programs and other programs that work to combat climate change, essential nutrition services, law enforcement, consumer safety, education, and healthcare.”
This is just one of about a dozen measures that need to be passed in the House and Senate before it can get to Biden’s desk for his signature.
Before being ousted, McCarthy signed a temporary spending bill that would extend the deadline by 45 days to avert a government shutdown.
Ironically, it was this measure that Rep. Gaetz (R-FL) pointed to as one of the main reasons he wanted McCarthy gone.
Let’s just hope that whoever the new Speaker is, they are able to get everyone on the same page and pass through legislation that will put the onus of any shutdown on Biden, not the GOP.
We warned everyone that McCarthy would be a disaster… and we all asked our representatives for change, but they ignored us.
And now the House is in chaos.
