Sidney Powell unleashed her Kraken in Georgia and it got it’s tentacles slapped again. The Fulton County DA, Fani Willis is desperately trying to herd a bunch of cats. She really wants to bring all 19 of her named co-defendants to trial, all at once, in a big made for TV circus. One staged only to sway the results of the upcoming 2024 election away from Once and Future President Donald Trump. Willis gained a minor victory when the judge refused to separate two of the defendants from each other but the question of splitting them off from the other 17 remains in limbo.
Powell still stuck to Chesebro
At least Sidney Powell is smart enough not to be representing herself in court. Her lawyer is arguing that the only way she can get a fair trial is if she can be tried separately from all the other Defendants. That’s a valid argument but the judge wasn’t ready to accept it.
Lawyers for Kenneth Chesebro filed the motion to split his case from Powell’s and she agreed that was the proper thing to do. The judge denied it. These two can remain chained together for trial.
Both Powell and Chesebro aren’t waiving their right to a “speedy trial.” Meanwhile, Donald Trump and all the other Defendants are claiming they can’t be ready. They demand more time to prepare and also agree their cases should be split up.
Fulton County defense attorney brilliantly lays out why Fani Willis' RICO case is a sham.
If these 19 defendants can be charged with "conspiracy" to elect Donald Trump, then all 72 million Trump voters can be charged for the alleged crime.

It appears, to practically everyone on the defense side, that the prosecution only wants to fish for things from discovery in each case as they go. Things they can then use against the rest.
Powell and Chesebro seem to be utilizing a strategy based on assuming the prosecution’s case is so weak that it would be insane to give them any time to dig up more dirt. Of course, they swear up and down that there’s no dirt to be found. Even so, innocent people are found guilty all the time. Especially when they misjudge their legal strategies.
That’s something to watch in this particular case because playing fast and loose with legal accusations and theories is what got her and Trump in trouble to start with. Some think she was intentionally fed misinformation which she swallowed hook, line and sinker. Totally believing she was fully informed on the inside truth, it all blew up as baseless innuendo which sounded good but had no substance. The overall incident has all the hallmarks of a very professionally engineered psychological warfare operation.
A televised extravaganza
The Fulton County district attorney’s office proudly informed the court that they have plans involving “a four months-long trial with more than 150 witnesses.” If you’re going to have a circus, you need to bring the elephants.
At the same time, Chesebro and Powell desperately want to keep it simple. Judge Scott McAfee denied their motion to be tried separately but at the same time seemed “skeptical of the district attorney’s desire to hold a trial for all 19 defendants beginning next month.”
The takeaways that pundits at The Hill were left with are that the judge is “skeptical of a quick and joint trial,” calling it “a bit unrealistic that we can handle all 19 in 40-something days.”

That’s when Prosecutor Nathan Wade mentioned they expect to need around four months to interrogate “more than 150 witnesses” on the stand. He also admitted that it would take just as long and they would need the same number of witnesses to do it all at once or one by one. That’s the part Powell says is prejudicial.
The judge called the four month timeline “very optimistic” and predicting “it could easily be twice that.” It’s actually expected to become daily television drama all through the election season.
Judge McAfee did suggest that he’s leaning toward separating “Powell and Chesebro from the other 17 defendants.” If they’re ready for October 23 then let’s get their show on the road. CNN’s legal analyst called it a “good day” for the defendants, because he “all but severed their case from the other defendants. He essentially said, ‘File your brief by Tuesday, and I’m going to have scheduling orders going out by the end of the week.‘“
